Tasked with creating an office space built to withstand the next decade's demands, the understanding of Eversheds vision, operational needs, and local culture was paramount as we took on this project. The design is intended to prioritize both client and staff experiences, aligning with the values of a modern law firm.
We introduced a hospitality approach to the Font-of-House area, replacing the traditional reception desk with two concierge pods that are fully compatible with hand-held tablets to allow for visitor check-in. The client lounge draws inspiration from hotel lobbies and art galleries, featuring an upscale minimal interior that creates the ideal backdrop for iconic furniture, feature lighting, and other art pieces. A timber feature wraps from floor, wall to ceiling, creating a portal that perfectly captures the iconic views of Victoria Harbour.
Transitioning to a 100% open-plan layout presented significant challenges, particularly regarding privacy and storage for partners and associates. To address this, we devised three distinct workspace types: Partner studios situated alongside windows, associate villages scattered throughout the office with intermediary staff workspaces to facilitate communication.
Collaborating with USM, a leading office system provider, we engineered a tailored solution for storage and privacy. Modular storage units served as room dividers for partner studios, accompanied by custom-designed privacy screens—a first for USM. All elements are highly reconfigurable, providing flexibility and future-proofing for the client. For associates, each village featured four desks surrounded by the versatile USM Haller system, offering personalized storage options without compromising the office's openness. This adaptable design ensures flexibility and future-proofing for Eversheds Sutherland.
